LEGO Technic 42240 Aston Martin Aramco AMR25: The Green F1 Car Arrives, Along With the Debate

LEGO Technic is adding another car to its 1:8 Formula 1 lineup: 42240 Aston Martin Aramco AMR25 F1 Car. Based on Aston Martin Aramco’s 2025 Formula 1 car, this new Technic set is already available for pre-order on the official LEGO store, priced at $229.99 in the US, with shipping expected from July 1, 2026.

According to LEGO, the set includes 1,547 pieces and measures approximately 13 cm high, 61 cm long, and 26 cm wide once built. It is aimed at adult builders, Formula 1 fans, and Technic collectors.

In terms of features, 42240 follows the formula of LEGO’s recent large-scale Technic F1 cars. It includes front and rear push-rod suspension, working steering, a differential, a 2-speed gearbox, a V6 engine with a spinning MGU-H-style element, and an adjustable DRS rear wing. In other words, this is not simply a green shell covered in stickers; LEGO is clearly continuing to focus on the mechanical functions that Technic fans expect.

Why the AMR25?

The AMR25 was Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team’s car for the 2025 season, driven by Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll. Aston Martin’s official information also highlights the real car’s push-rod suspension layout, which lines up nicely with the Technic functions included in the LEGO model.

This set also continues LEGO’s broader expansion of its licensed F1 lineup. Previous large-scale Technic F1 cars have covered teams such as Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull, and McLaren. With Aston Martin now joining the grid, the series feels increasingly like a team-by-team collector range.

Community Reaction: The Color Is the Big Talking Point

At first glance, 42240 has a strong display presence and a familiar large-scale Technic F1 silhouette. But across Reddit communities such as r/Legoleak and r/legotechnic, the main criticism has been very clear: the green may not look Aston Martin enough.

Many fans feel the LEGO color appears too bright compared with the darker, more metallic Aston Martin racing green seen on the real AMR25. Some Reddit discussions also touched on the set name, sticker usage, and whether the model offers enough value compared with alternative brick-built F1 cars.

This is not the first time LEGO Aston Martin F1 models have sparked color debates. Earlier Speed Champions Aston Martin F1 releases also drew comments about color accuracy. For LEGO, the issue is not only whether the exact shade exists, but also whether enough Technic beams, panels, and connectors are available in that color for mass production.

What LEGO Media Are Saying

Major LEGO media outlets have mostly covered the set from a factual news angle.

Brick Fanatics highlighted the AMR25 as Aston Martin’s arrival in the large-scale LEGO Technic F1 lineup, while noting its 1,547-piece count, pricing, and July 1, 2026 release date.

Jay’s Brick Blog positioned it as the latest 1:8 Technic F1 car to join the LEGO grid, focusing on the model’s scale, official images, and how it expands the wider Formula 1 collection.

The Brick Fan also reported on the set’s mechanical functions, including the 2-speed gearbox, V6 engine, working differential, steering, and DRS wing.

Instagram and the Leak Ecosystem

On Instagram, accounts such as itavix_bricks are part of the wider LEGO news and leak-sharing ecosystem, especially around Speed Champions and upcoming release rumors. For this specific AMR25 set, however, the strongest public discussion appears to have grown through LEGO news sites, Reddit leak communities, and official product coverage.

In other words, Instagram may not have been the single main source for this reveal, but it remains an important platform for spreading images, early reactions, and collector discussion. LEGO news often moves quickly there: images appear first, details follow, and then communities debate color accuracy, pricing, stickers, and display value.

It is also important to note that this set is no longer just a rumor. Since the official LEGO product page is live and pre-orders are open, 42240 should be treated as a confirmed release. Reddit and Instagram discussion are better understood as indicators of community reaction and trend momentum.

Is It Worth Buying?

If you are an Aston Martin Aramco fan, or a fan of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, 42240 is likely a very tempting release. Its strengths are obvious: official licensing, 1:8 display scale, a complete Technic function package, and the ability to sit alongside LEGO’s other large-scale F1 cars from McLaren, Ferrari, Red Bull, and Mercedes.

However, if exterior accuracy matters most to you, especially the exact shade of green, it may be worth waiting for hands-on reviews and real-life photos. Official renders and physical LEGO pieces can look different under real lighting, and the biggest community debate around this model is precisely whether the color captures the Aston Martin identity properly.

My take: 42240 is a high-value collector entry in the Technic F1 lineup, with solid mechanical appeal but a color choice that may divide fans. For F1 collectors, it fills an important gap on the LEGO grid. For detail-focused model car fans, it may become a strong base for custom stickers, lighting kits, or even color-modified MOCs that bring it closer to the real AMR25.
