How to display your Lego Technic 42173 Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut Grey Hypercar? Review & Display solutions here!

LEGO continues to thrill car lovers with its high-speed creations! The Speed Champions and Technic lines keep pushing the limits, and this summer we welcome another exciting addition: the LEGO Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut Grey. This 801-piece Koenigsegg Jesko LEGO set brings the hypercar to life with incredible detail and design. Fans can get their hands on it starting August 1st for US $49.99 | CAN $64.99 | UK £46.99.

Unboxing

The thumb-punch box falls in the small-to-medium size range. The front displays the classic forward-facing view of the car, while the back highlights the rear with the doors open. Below that, there are smaller images showcasing the set’s play features alongside the real-life vehicle.

Building

Bag 1

Bag one starts off with constructing the car’s foundation, which incorporates the lower section of the steering system. A gear rack is also built in at this stage, which will later connect to the functioning doors.

Next, the focus shifts to assembling the V-8 engine. The updated piston design—recently introduced in other Technic sets—is a real highlight. To make this engine work at the right scale, LEGO created two new specialized molds: a yellow fork pin and a light bluish grey offset cam. Together, they give the build a more accurate and satisfying engine experience.

The build continues with the addition of the seats and the front fender. To strengthen the structure, new black 3×13 Technic frames are used, providing extra stability and more connection points along the sides. From there, a mix of liftarms, panels, and the newer slope elements start to define the sleek contours of the car’s exterior.

With liftarms, panels, and the latest slope elements, the bodywork of the car starts to take form. A rear hood is built to cover the engine, cleverly incorporating Bionicle wings to create the back fins. The hood is attached with hinges, allowing it to lift open and reveal the detailed engine underneath—a fantastic play feature, even if it doesn’t always hold itself open without support. This stage of the build also introduces parts for beginning the front hood assembly.

As the build comes together, the signature doors are finally constructed and attached to the body. The mechanism does a brilliant job of capturing the motion of the real car while avoiding any pinching or stiffness in the movement. Another highlight of this system is how sturdy the doors feel; whether opened or closed, they sit firmly in place instead of wobbling loosely.

Completed Model

Conclusion

Although the Koenigsegg Jesko Hypercar may not be familiar to everyone, the LEGO Technic version stands out as an enjoyable and well-designed set. Aimed at builders aged 10 and up, it offers engaging play features and clever building techniques that make the process rewarding. While the model itself is relatively compact, the pricing is reasonable for what it delivers.

An interesting detail is that LEGO has released the set in two color options, grey and white, which are identical apart from the livery. This gives fans the flexibility to choose their preferred version—or even collect both.

Overall, the LEGO Koenigsegg Jesko set is a solid recommendation for anyone looking for a fun and affordable Technic build, regardless of whether they are familiar with the real-life car.
