The Ducati Panigale motorcycle made its LEGO debut in 2020 as a 646-piece set. In 2025, it made a return in the Technic lineup as the 42202 Ducati Panigale V4 S Motorcycle, now featuring more than twice the number of pieces and a significantly higher price of US$199.99 / AU$299.99 / £169.99.

Building

Completed Model

The model is displayed on a black Technic stand, featuring an 8×16 tile with stickers showcasing the bike's specifications. It attaches to the motorcycle using four Technic axles. While the bike leans slightly forward due to its weight distribution, it remains well-balanced.

By moving this lever up or down, you can shift gears on the Ducati Panigale V4 S, thanks to the intricate transmission system inside, which utilizes rubber bands and specialized components. Adjusting the gears causes the engine pistons of the Ducati Panigale V4 S to move faster or slower as the bike is pushed forward. While this is an impressive detail, it feels slightly underwhelming since the Ducati Panigale V4 S model isn’t motorized. In fact, I found constructing the transmission system of the Ducati Panigale V4 S more engaging than the final functional outcome.

Build

The Ducati Panigale V4 S is well-represented in this set, capturing key details through clever building techniques. However, due to the limited variety of available Technic panels, some proportions and finer details of the Ducati Panigale V4 S feel slightly off.
Score: 3

Playability

While the working gearbox of the Ducati Panigale V4 S is technically impressive, it doesn’t add much to the overall experience of the completed model. Beyond that, the Ducati Panigale V4 S lacks significant interactive features.
Score: 3

Real Value

The Ducati Panigale V4 S may not offer the best value at full price, but its complex and densely packed build goes a long way in justifying the cost. If you can snag the Ducati Panigale V4 S on sale, it becomes a much more appealing purchase.
Score: 4

Innovation

The construction process of the Ducati Panigale V4 S is highly enjoyable, featuring plenty of smart design choices and clever geometric techniques.
Score: 4

Keepability

LEGO appears to be building a lineup of Technic motorcycles at this scale, and the Ducati Panigale V4 S makes for another strong addition. However, the existence of a smaller and more budget-friendly version slightly reduces the exclusivity of the Ducati Panigale V4 S set.
Score: 4

Conclusion

The Ducati Panigale V4 S is a well-designed, complex, and highly displayable Technic model. While there is room for improvement in playability and detail accuracy, both the building experience and the final visual presentation are undeniably satisfying. For LEGO Technic fans and motorcycle enthusiasts, this set is definitely worth a try.
