2024 marks a monumental year as Batman celebrates his 85th anniversary, and LEGO Batman fans are in for a treat with the newly revealed 76271 LEGO Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City Skyline!

This impressive 4,210-piece LEGO masterpiece brings Gotham City to life, showcasing its iconic towers, buildings, and landmarks from the beloved Batman: The Animated Series. From the Bat-Signal lighting up the skyline to the dark alleys where Batman confronts villains, every detail has been meticulously crafted to capture the essence of Gotham City.

Fans of LEGO Batman can get early access to this stunning set on April 1, 2024, through LEGO Insiders, while the general release will follow on April 4. This incredible addition to the LEGO Batman collection is a must-have for collectors and enthusiasts, making it a perfect way to honor 85 years of the Dark Knight’s legacy.

This set is truly jaw-dropping for fans of the Caped Crusader! LEGO has drawn inspiration from their LEGO Art theme and then supercharged it (think Bane-level power!) to create a stunning, textured tapestry of the iconic Gotham City skyline. Every building, every detail feels alive, giving a whole new dimension to the city Batman calls home. It's like a perfect fusion of LEGO’s innovative design and the gritty atmosphere of Gotham, making it a must-have for any LEGO Batman enthusiast looking to celebrate the Dark Knight’s legendary legacy.

The set comes with 4 minifigures, and fans of Batman: The Animated Series are in for a treat! For the first time, you’ll be able to get a TAS Batsuit in LEGO form, along with Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and, of course, the one and only Joker—the Clown Prince of Crime himself. Whether you're a fan of Batman’s classic rogues’ gallery or just love the iconic look of Batman: TAS, these minifigures are the perfect way to bring Gotham’s legendary characters into your collection. It’s like having the whole animated series in brick form!

What a pile of bags inside the box! Once sorted, it becomes clear that there’s a massive amount of work ahead before the set is fully built. In the instruction book, before construction begins, builders are treated to a detailed "sitemap" that explains what each emblematic building represents in the world of LEGO Batman. The set includes a wide range of iconic Batman: The Animated Series locations, from the towering Wayne Manor to the eerie Arkham Asylum and even Penguin's boat. Every site is incredibly detailed, capturing the essence of Gotham and its villains, making it clear that this LEGO Batman set is a true tribute to the rich world of the Dark Knight.

Little by little, an incredible collection of memories from Batman: The Animated Series starts to unfold as the set comes together. With each new section, builders are treated to a nostalgic trip down memory lane. And just wait—there’s a zeppelin! :O In the next area, the construction moves on to Wayne Manor, and after placing just a few well-chosen pieces, it starts to look absolutely stunning. The attention to detail is breathtaking, especially when it comes to the Batcave. It's been designed down to the millimetre, and the rocks at the edge are a delightful touch. The Batmobile? What an incredible build, truly capturing the essence of Batman’s iconic vehicle in LEGO form. The set even includes a forest section that simulates the journey from Wayne Manor to Gotham, offering a brilliant way to represent this iconic piece of Batman lore in LEGO Batman form. Every aspect of the set is an homage to the Batman: The Animated Series, and it’s clear that no detail was overlooked.

As you can see, this central building follows a similar pattern to other iconic structures we've seen in the world of LEGO Batman, but it also brings its own unique touch. The construction isn't speculative—it's been carefully designed to stay true to the essence of Batman: The Animated Series, which means there are bound to be some delightful technical surprises along the way. Whether it’s clever building techniques or unexpected design elements, each step reveals something new and exciting, making it clear that this LEGO Batman set is full of hidden gems waiting to be uncovered. The attention to detail ensures that every part of Gotham, from its most familiar buildings to the lesser-known gems, is brought to life in the most intricate and rewarding way possible.

This LEGO Batman set can be the beginning of an endless array of themes, all stemming from its unique construction style. The way it blends technical building techniques with minimalist design is truly remarkable. The set has an excellent exploded view that makes understanding its structure enjoyable, and the figures—especially the LEGO Batman minifigures—are outstanding. The price per piece is quite reasonable, considering the level of detail and the amount of surprises packed into the build.

When I first saw the set, I thought it looked great, but once I started building, I was absolutely blown away by how magnificent it is. What really stands out is how certain buildings can be easily uncovered to reveal the LEGO Batman characters hidden inside, like Catwoman and others. The fact that the construction manual shows the episodes of Batman: The Animated Series each building refers to makes this set incredibly immersive and complete. With more than 4,000 pieces, it's full of surprises and clever techniques that can be challenging for someone new to this scale, like me. But that's what makes it all the more rewarding for any LEGO Batman fan.

This set is not just a build; it’s a journey. For anyone willing to take it on, I’m sure they won’t be disappointed! A huge "wow!" to the designers of this LEGO Batman set—while we’ve seen unofficial embossed LEGO pictures online, this one is actually playable! There are parts of the set where you’ll need to remove pieces to uncover which characters are hidden inside, making it interactive and fun. The set is a masterpiece with no fewer than 4,210 pieces and includes four highly anticipated minifigures, like Catwoman. I can’t thank LEGO enough for sending me this set for review in this article, although it’s important to note that LEGO does not endorse or support the opinions expressed here in any way.

The Easter eggs in this LEGO Batman set are a fun addition, and many of them utilize stickers from the second sheet, which feature some of Gotham’s lesser-known characters. While it's a neat way to incorporate these secondary figures, it’s a bit disappointing that the space could’ve been used for microbuilds—something that might have enhanced the set even further. However, given the way the buildings are designed and how densely packed the details are, there simply wouldn't have been room for them without compromising the overall structure.

Other stickers in the set are used to label the buildings and display marquee signs, adding to the immersive feel of Gotham City. These stickers really help bring the city to life, though it would’ve been nice if there were a bit more variety in their use. Nonetheless, they’re a small trade-off for the amazing level of detail and the overall LEGO Batman experience that this set delivers.

The LEGO Art Gotham City (76271) is an impressive set that looks fantastic once built, filled with countless Easter eggs hidden throughout. There are so many surprises tucked away that I found myself pulling off pieces, thinking there might be something hidden beneath them. The design of the different buildings and the overall style really captures the essence of the Batman: The Animated Series, and it feels like you’re piecing together iconic parts of Gotham City.

The minifigure selection is decent but could have been better. It would’ve been great to see more characters from the Batman: TAS universe, especially those featured on the stickers, rather than just the usual LEGO Batman cast. It’s been rumored that more Batman TAS sets might be coming later this year, so let’s hope that the selection expands in the future.

As expected with a set of this size, you’ll need a good amount of space to display it, but once in place, it makes for an absolutely stunning backdrop. At a price of $299.99, it offers a solid building experience and results in a beautiful display piece that any LEGO Batman fan will be proud to showcase.
