How to Display Your LEGO® Dragon Ball Collection: Starting with Shenron & Goku 11390| Mark's Magic

The arrival of LEGO® Icons Dragon Ball: Shenron & Goku 11390 marks the beginning of something Dragon Ball fans have waited years to see: an official LEGO Dragon Ball collection.

And unlike many LEGO sets that naturally fit into a row on a shelf, Shenron was clearly designed to be seen.

The 1,764-piece model rises from all seven Dragon Balls in a dramatic coiled pose, with Kid Goku riding his Kintoun alongside him. LEGO itself describes the model as a collectible display piece, measuring more than 32 cm tall.

So once the build is finished, the next question is obvious:

How should you actually display LEGO Dragon Ball?

1. Give Shenron Enough Space to Show His Full Silhouette

One of the strongest parts of the 11390 design is Shenron's shape.

The curved body, scales, claws and raised head create a much more sculptural silhouette than a typical LEGO playset. LEGO's designers specifically studied animation frames and classic poses to reproduce Shenron's long, looping form.

That shape needs room.

A dedicated display area also makes the green body stand out much more clearly than it does on a crowded shelf.

2. Make Shenron the Centerpiece

There are several important elements in 11390—Kid Goku, Kintoun and the seven Dragon Balls—but visually, Shenron should remain the hero.

A good display should therefore create a simple hierarchy:

Shenron first.
The seven Dragon Balls second.
Goku as part of the story.

This is particularly important when choosing a display background.

3. Build a Scene Around the Seven Dragon Balls

A Dragon Ball-inspired environment—using sky, energy, cloud or summoning imagery—can visually connect the Dragon Balls, Goku and Shenron into one complete scene.

This is the idea behind our Display Case for LEGO® Icons 11390 Dragon Ball: Shenron & Goku.

Instead of treating the acrylic case as a simple dust cover, the themed background and mirrored base create a dedicated environment around the model while keeping Shenron at the center.

4. Reduce Visual Distractions Around the Model

Rather than changing the LEGO model itself, the goal is to create enough visual depth behind it that functional supports become part of the overall scene instead of immediately drawing the eye.

This is one reason a purpose-designed display can work differently from placing the same model inside a completely clear acrylic cube.

5. Protect the Colors You Want to Keep on Display

Dragon Ball 11390 is dominated by bright green, yellow, orange and red elements.

If a LEGO set is going to stay on permanent display, dust and sunlight become part of the equation.

Our 11390 display uses 3 mm high-transparency PMMA, while the acrylic material has also been tested for UV transmission. The goal is simple: keep the model visible while providing another layer of protection from dust and long-term light exposure.

That matters particularly for collectors who intend to keep Shenron as a permanent room display rather than rotating it back into storage after a few months.

6. Think Beyond One Set — LEGO Dragon Ball Is Becoming a Collection

Shenron should also be displayed with the future in mind.

The LEGO Group and Toei Animation have officially confirmed that more LEGO Dragon Ball sets will follow in 2027 and beyond. LEGO has not yet officially announced the individual 2027 models, but the partnership makes one thing clear: 11390 is the beginning of a wider Dragon Ball LEGO collection.

Current reports suggest a much larger 2027 wave could include sets inspired by scenes and characters such as Goku vs. Raditz, Namek, Z Fighters vs. Saiyans, Porunga, Frieza's spaceship, Kame House and a buildable Vegeta. These individual products remain rumored until LEGO officially reveals them.

For collectors, that changes how Shenron can be displayed today.

Instead of asking:

“Where can I fit this one LEGO set?”

it may be better to ask:

“What do I want my Dragon Ball collection to look like a year from now?”

A future Dragon Ball display could naturally develop into several zones:

  • Shenron as the central statement piece

  • Kame House or other locations as environmental builds

  • Battle scenes such as Goku vs. Raditz as smaller story displays

  • Characters and minifigures grouped together

  • Namek-era sets creating a second themed section

That allows the collection to grow deliberately rather than becoming a row of unrelated boxes competing for shelf space.

From LEGO Set to Dragon Ball Display

With LEGO officially confirming more Dragon Ball sets for 2027, Shenron may not just be the first LEGO Dragon Ball set you display.

It could become the centerpiece around which an entire collection grows.
